Yea sort of... when I turned the climate control from recirc mode to fresh air, you can smell gas fumes but there was never any actual gas dripping or anything. I got the recall done and now - no more gas smell!!!

It's given in lieu of an extended powertrain warranty to folks who need half their engine taken apart to replace valve springs.
It wouldn't make much sense to do that for people basically having a sensor tightened.

That is correct. They did the fuel recall on mine while it was in for the valve recall. I believe that the verbage on the invoice was something along the lines of "tighten fuel pressure regulator and check gasket". Really not a big job. The valve recall was billed on the invoice for 7 hours of labor, and they had the car a day and a half.

Good to hear that there is a gift card,What is the normal wait time? As I said earlier i am waiting four months. With the letter there also was a copoun For $1500. towards the purchase or lease a new Lexus. I got rip of the 460 (with all the recalls) and purchased a hs250 h 2010.That copoun worked even thou the dealer said he never so it before.

The gift card is only for people who all of the following is true for:
Their car was part of the valve spring recall (this is only 06-08 350s, and not all 08s). You don't need to have the work done, just own a car that is covered by the recall.
They EITHER already HAVE an extended warranty OR live in Florida.
If all of that is true, you get the card.
If only the first one is true you get 30,000 miles (but 0 extra days) added to your powertrain warranty.
if neither is true you get nothing.

yea, just got off the phone with lexus and the rep said that you will only get the gift card if you've purchased an extened warranty. LIke me that without the extended warranty they have extended my powertrain warranty to 6 year 100k miles.

I have an 2006 IS350 that I purchased as a CPO back in 2007. I had the valve spring recall done on 2/11/11. I just called Lexus and was told that I will be getting the $500 GC. The Lexus rep could not give me a timeframe but said that the cards were on backorder for "a minute" but now are being sent out again.

My experience:
I call them up and they said since my car is not CPO I only get the VSA extended no GC. I told them I bought a 3rd party extended warranty and that VSA is pointless. After some back and forth they allow me to fax my extended warranty (for proof) so they can cancel my VSA and send me the GC. Currently waiting for a definite answer on the GC after faxing my warranty. Hope for the best :-/

More Details on the Lexus Valve Spring Recall
By Erin Riches | July 2, 2010
Lexus has issued the list of vehicles that will be covered by an upcoming valve spring recall on the company's 3.5-liter V6 (north-south version only) and 4.6-liter V8 engines. The 5.0-liter V8 is also included, but only the version in the LS 600h. Yamaha builds the 5.0-liter in the IS-F and so a different valve spring supplier is used, Toyota's Bill Kwong told us. Toyota says it has notified NHTSA of its intent to file a Defect Investigation Report on July 5.
The recall will cover 138,000 cars in the U.S. Lexus estimates there's a 0.2 percent chance that any of these vehicles will actually experience a problem. Yes. That statistic is in the press release.

They flat out told me NO on the gift card. I was being very nice, but some of the lexus reps were a lil rude. So the third rep I spoke to was super nice, and she asked me "what can we do to make the situation better"... I followed up with three different scenarios and she said that she would put them in but that she can not guarantee anything.
