Default looking for your thoughts/opinions (ext. Warranty refund)

All,

I'm looking for your opinions on keeping my extended warranty or getting a partial refund.

I have an 07 350 with approx. 51.5k miles. I purchased the 7yr/100k extended warranty to ensure a trouble free experience. I recently had the valve spring recall preformed and they extended my power-train to 6/100 (even though I already had it)

Since the power train is covered I'm toying with the idea of canceling the extended and getting a partial refund. I have searched and read a lot of other posts regarding problems and it seems that these cars are pretty reliable with very minimal problems, and the ones that are there seem to not be too wide spread.. I am pretty mechanically inclined (mechanical engineer by profession) so if something was to go wrong (window motor, ext) I could easily replace the part myself.

Looking for others input.

Well if you hit the 100k first it's obviously a no-brainer. If it's a sizable refund, I'd go for it.

I think the extended warranty is bumper to bumper wheras the one you got after the valve spring recall is powertrain only...So if your nav screen takes a crap on you and you only have the powertrain warranty...you pay!

Granted you can do the labor, parts are still very expensive. Depending upon how long you keep your car, you have to remember that eventually things do go out, even after the 50k.

$1400 in parts can go very fast.

Very true on the bumper to bumper and that parts are expensive. It seems that there are very few problems with these cars, even the higher mileage ones. Of course if I do cancel it the next day my nav will go out haha. I guess its a gamble.
