Dealership tryin me
Jus bought an 08is 250 last week n I told them the brakes are squeaking wen I brake. So I bring it in n the sales guy says they shoulda checked all that stuff before letting the customer take the car home. But of course they didn't. And I showed them the lip on the rotors and the grooves that looks like something is diggin into the rotors and the "mechanic" tells me that's how it's supposed to be. But I look on other cars on the lot n the rotors are perfect with no lip and no streaks or grooves. So they tell me we will change the brake pads, when the pads are almost new. Sometimes I wonder how these guys get hired. Anyone else have this problem?

Where in FL are you? Which dealer are you going to? I've had nothing but good experiences with Lexus of Orlando. I brought my car in for some rattling noises and they resurfaced my rotors also free of charge.

That is normal for worn rotors, but is not acceptable. You can demand they either cut the rotors, or replace them. However, since you drove the car off the lot, they may give you a hard time. Often, if the rotor is worn to a point where a noticable lip is present, the rotor is too worn to be cut because after being cut the rotor would be too thin.

Pretty shady that they are half-assing a cheap, simple brake job. Exactly the reason I do all my own maintenance.
