about 11 months ago me and my wife bought a LCU IS350. we love the car but we notice that when we have the wheel turned all the way left or right we get a clunking in the front end.
the car only has 52k on the odometer. this happens when driving at slow speeds in forward or reverse.
the best way i can describe it is if you had a truck on dry pavement and in
4WD. it will kind of bind and release. i searched google for a couple hours the other night and came up with nothing.
i figure this has to be a common problem considering it has such low miles on it.
i checked the suspension the other day and could find nothing wrong. i got under the car again and searched for anything out of the ordinary. loose bolts, cracked bushings, anything. nothing wrong. ive checked the ball joints (upper and lower), wheel bearings, tie rod ends, rack and pinion just about everything i can. ive also looked for loose bolts on the front crossmember.
anyways, found nothing. im hoping that this forum could help out. got any ideas for me?

i gave one of the lexus dealerships my VIN number and he told me i had 3 recalls to do. the rear brake seal, the brake pedal and the valve springs. he said nothing regarding the rack.

well i appreciate it. neither of the service guys i talked to were very helpful. i asked both of them if they had heard of a common problem like this and both said no. so what exactly do i need to tell them?

I noticed it too when I got my IS350, I took it in for the valve recall, and got a loaner. Even the loaner did that binding spin noise thing. It happens just after starting your car and going forward and reverse.

The closest lexus dealership is 3 hrs away but that dealership told me to take it to toyota and have them call him to authorize it.
Ill set up an appt next week.
Is it a safety issue?
I did find some old posts concerning IS300 having brake binding issues so i did lube the" slider" and backing plate pad.

My front left did something similar when I was pulling into a space and turning the wheel with the brake on. They heard it and ended up lubricating some clap that is visible on the outside of the brake assembly. It worked for a few months (although made a visible mess). Once the goop wore off from the rain, the noise came back. I just put up with it now. Not sure if it's the same thing as you have, as I don't have any binding feeling, just a slight clunk.
Also, 52k miles on your car isn't exactly low miles. ; )
Good luck!

i plan on having the wife drive slowly with the wheel fully locked down our cul de sac today and having me take a look to see if the tires are jumping front to back or anything like that.
