Question IS250 vs. Infiniti G35 vs. Acura TL

I'm trying to decide between these three cars. What are your opinions on this? Considering reliability, gas mileage, and warranty protection, and anything major gone wrong. I want a nice luxury car that will last me 250,000+ miles. Also, how these cars do in the snow, since we have a lot here.

Thanks!

I have had the IS250awd as a loaner, I now own a 2008 G35xS and I have driven the 2nd and third gen TL's. I have not tried the 09+ TL's but everyone says that they drive big and heavy. They are pricey as well if you buy them new but I bet you can get a good deal on them used as they are not selling that well.

You need to drive all three and decide. I think they are all good cars. I needed to be able to drive in the snow, and I love to drive fast, so you can see what I own.

Here is my take.

I know you can take all three of these cars to 250k miles. They are all very reliable.

IS250awd
-Great looking Exterior
-Beautiful Interior
-ML stereo is pretty good
-Small back seat
-Small Trunk
-Weak engine enough to move but it does not stir the soul.
-Weak engine = great gas mileage.
-Can get it in a stick
-Probably can pick one up at a reasonable price.

G35X 2nd Gen 2007+
-Looks just as good as the IS
-Interior is very nice but quality is about 8 to 9/10 up to Lexus Standards. Very BMW ish IMO.
-Stereo is a bit above average. I have the upgraded Bose studio on wheels and it still does not match the quality of my GS400 Stock Pioneer unit.
-Nav system is good I also have a harddrive that you can burn music on to. I also have built in IPOD connectivity. NO need for the $200 VIAS system.
-This is the FASTEST and most athletic car i have ever owned. Hands down it handles very well and is fun to drive.
-Good in the snow.
-Gas Mileage has been the only bad thing about this car. I avg 20 mpg city highway mixed. I know the IS350 can do better but untill this year there was no AWD.
-If you like to drive there is no comparison with the IS250.. This car will destroy the 250... Handling, Speed, Stopping power ect.

Acura TL
-New one 09+ is Ugly, Old one prior to 08 is good looking.
-08 and prior were very nice driving cars.
-They felt fast and handled very well
-I know they were not the best in the snow with the FWD. Told by the dealer and other owners.
-Good space more than the IS and G35
-Good Stereo
-Some people compained about the build quailty on the car but I though the loaners I would get were beaten up but built well.
-Good all around car I think they were about 20 mpg as well.
- Can get it in a Stick.

None of your choices have a 335 HPFP issue so you are pretty good with any major problem areas.

Good luck with your search.

all 3 are good, reliable cars. A question you might want to ask yourself is if you want a gas efficient car or not.

Imo, get the 04-08 TL, base model comes with almost everything. Can't go wrong with it...
is250- underpower and u have to pay more to get extra added part that the TL comes stock with.
G35- depends if u want the coupe or sedan, coupe is "almost too boy racer" imo.

What r u looking for? Power, looks, or space? The IS doesnt have too much power, But is a hot car inside and outside. The TL has decent power, nice body, is nice inside and has a lot of space. I dont like the looks of the G35 interiors but it has a lot of power.

I'm trying to figure out why the 250 is on the list instead of the 350... especially used the price different ought not be much and the performance difference is massive.

The 250 isn't in the same class as the other 2 cars performance wise... the 350 is faster than all of em. (though the G is at least fairly close to it)

I recommend that you look into the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT limited.

Since you need a car that is good in the snow this will beat all the other cars you mentioned. Plus it is turbocharged. When you want to mod the potential for big power will be available.

he asks the 250 because he needs awd. it snows alot there he says. not sure if he is looking for a brand new car but if he is than the 350 awd comes into play.

If you want the car to last 250k + miles your best bet in the Lexus, period. All 3 have pros and cons but if that is your main buying decision the IS is the best bet here.

Except that the previous-gen TL isn't AWD either and it's on his list.

The new model is, but then as you note the 350 is available in AWD too if he were looking new.

(and a 350 gets around just fine in way worse winters than WA state gets with good snow tires anyway... there's folks on here from Chicago, upstate NY, upper midwest, even Canada, in RWD 350s getting around fine)
