i just put mine in my lap. having a mount distracts from the gorgeous appeal on our interior...especially the dash and center console

My plan is to leave mine in the car 24/7.

I kept searching and searching and found a really nice looking install that I'm going to try and copy.

As far I am concer if you can control your ipod only from the head unit why have your ipod mounted anywhere if you can't control anything directly on the ipod.
I keep mine in the glovebox when the cable is at for connection.

Because I'm going to use slacker radio on it and even if you have it wired up correctly you need to have access to the screen. It doesn't work otherwise.

I hate downloading music and taking the time to transfer it. However I also want to be able to do it if I end up desiring to do so.

How are you going to use slacker radio when you can't use the controls on the ipod once connected?

Hmmm. That'd be an issue. I've seen that happen if you use a USB cable into the radio.

Is that what is going on with these cradles? I was assuming it was just a special cable that has the ipod 30 pin connector on one end and power and audio on the other end (No usb)..

I have a friend that has the 2010 Is 250 he has the USB but we tried to use Pandora and it does not allow us to control the ipod directly and the Radion only recognizes Music, Audiobooks and something else I dont remember.
I have the 2009 Is 250 with the Ipod conector in the glove box which I install miself and it wont let me control anything directly on the ipod but the same things the USB can control.
I think having a cradle is just for you to have access to it quickly and for those who have Iphones it work as they need to grave them while exit the car.
In my personal opinion I wont be installing any in my car. The Glovebox is where i think I will keep mine all the time. I have no use for the ipod other than that, now that I have an Ipad.

I'd keep it in my arm rest 24/7 if I planned on actually using the music on it.

Like I said before, I'm wayyyyyyyy to lazy to download songs and then arrange them on my own.

Slacker is JUST like pandora - except that you can use it without having an internet connection.. and it plays alll sorts of music.

I used to have sat radio, however the low bitrate (quality) has really turned me off from it. Why spend all this money on a car with a great radio and high quality speakers... if you don't have a good source? Screw XM.

I want that mount as well. I'm probably going to try and figure out how to build it because the only manufacturer I found wants $165 w/ shipping and handling, which seems extremely high given the materials involved.
