the reason you tap into the front woofer and the stock sub is to sum up a signal to give you a "full"er range.

If you are only doing the sub there is no reason to tap into anything except the factory sub output. You shouldnt be crossing your sub-amp much higher than 100Hz anyways, you arent going to use anything you get from the front woofer. You would also have to buy a summing unit to sum the signals, again a waste of money if you are only adding a sub. What you will want is a bass-remote so you can adjust your Sub volume to match the factory speakers. You may want to bump it up when listening to Rock/Country, down when listening to Hip-Hop.

My setup is factory sub-out to LC2i (w/remote) to Alpine MRP-M500 to Alpine 12 TypeR. Adds just the right amount of low end (when matched properly).

Yeah i would disconnect the factory sub. It will sound a lot better.
