DIY - Bluetooth Music Streaming using A2DP

2010 was the first year the 2IS got the welcome-to-this-century Nav/audio system that supports A2DP.
So on a 2009 you'd need a BT-to-Aux bridge just like the 06-08 guys if you want to stream via A2DP.

If you are out of warranty, you can also buy an outboard ground loop isolator like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Peripheral-PGL...6139781&sr=1-6

Yeah, that's basically doing the same thing the device they install for the TSIB does, just that one would be external rather than mounting hidden in the back of the console

well. In my opinion.. the music quality is not up to par using this.
Talk shows? Pod casts? Yup, this is great for them. However I can def hear a difference between going wireless through blue tooth vs wired.
In my car it's a big deal. On the boat and at home it's really not, I still plan to use this, but for music.......wired is the only way.

Just did this yesterday and I think the quality is good. I'm sure it's lower in quality compared to wired but I really can't tell the difference. Being wireless makes it so much more convenient. Thanks OP.

Bringing this up because I am very interested in doing this when I get an IS in a month or two.
Anybody compare this to a motorola t505 in terms of sound quality? I currently use a t505 but hate that I always have to turn it on when I get in the car and then hold the fm transmitter button to turn that on (takes 30 seconds to get it all working each time I get in the car). I am also not very impressed with the low end bass through the t505 (but this might be an a2dp issue).
I was wondering if anybody has some heavier bass music and how it compared to plugging directly in... I am not sure if the issue is on the a2dp side or the fm transmitter side.
Also through this method do you still have the transport controls through the steering wheel or stereo? That is one feature I use all the time on my t505 is you can skip to the next track or automatically start playing music (because my wp7 device is always ready to play I can hit the play button on my t505 and it starts playing so I don't even have to take my phone out of my pocket). I use the skip track buttons all the time on my t505 and having that integrated on the steering wheel would be better than having to always reach up to my sun visor.

Jmags / Phanatik - You guys using a2dp enabled phones + ground loop fix? Bluetooth actually sounds better to me than wired out of my iPhone 4 since I can get better volume.
The only issue I've found with my puck over the months is that if I turn my car off and on too fast it won't sync (probably because the bluetooth connection doesn't time out in time). So if you turn off your car wait 10-15 seconds to turn it on and you won't have to manually unplug/plug the puck to get it to connect.
On a side note this thing is pretty reliable, especially since I leave it in my car in 10 degree weather and it works without a hiccup. Next up is the summer heat test.

Just put one of these in my car a week or so ago. Works freaking awesome with Pandora on my iPhone4! Audio quality is great too. I'll probably hard wire it and conceal it below the center console to clear up some space in there eventually.
