Well it's all relative.
The IS250 is a fantastic car and it's much more powerful than the average car out there. That said, this guy is coming from an EVO X MR.
Info from Road and Track -->
EVO X MR 0 to 60 = 4.6 seconds 1/4 mile = 13.2 seconds @ 103.6 MPH
IS350 0 to 60 = 4.9 seconds 1/4 mile = 13.5 seconds @ 103 MPH
IS250 0 to 60 = 7.4 seconds 1/4 mile = 15.5 seconds @ 89.2 MPH

Yea but not everything is measured in speed...I absolutely agree with ur point but the op stated that's not an issue and/or a main consideration.

the consensus here is clearly to go for the 350. at the moment you may not care about the power loss, but you really will feel it and be quite disappointed when you do.

The 3IS won't be out for at least 2 years so I don't think they are in a "hurry" to get rid of current 2IS just yet. For what it's worth, I got my brand new 2010 350 for 5k under sticker price.

Funny because I'm own a Evo IX MR (2006) and it's tuned for 330WHP and 320TQ and I'm planning on buying a IS soon. I just came from the dealership today and they had a 08 IS350 for 32k (21k Miles, Luxory Package) which I am looking to work on. I test drove it today and it seemed to be "good enough" for a luxory car.
I know you're asking for price, they told me re-design is not coming until maybe 2013 and aren't desperate to sell their 2011's as they just received them. I haven't talked prices but they had 3 leftover brand new 2010 IS350's reduced for 38k with, Auto, Navi, and I believe 18" wheels, but no Mark Levinson package as their listed price.

I agree with others: Test drive both, and make sure you dont care about the speed. You say you dont though, so get the 250. I get up to 34mpg and average about 25 around town. People say they have SEEN around those numbers in a 350 but its not consisitent and only happens with tailwind, all downhill, and all cruise control haha.
They arent race cars, and I'm glad the OP realizes he will be stepping into an entry level luxury car and not some fast and the furious "speed" machine.

I think some peeps here are just so stuck on the 350 because they never actually drove the 250.
I'm coming from an SS camaro with some light mods. Lighter car + 70ish more HP than a 350..
In the limited time I've driven the 250 I have to say I don't think I'll be saddened by any power missing.
Fact of the matter is that I only really used the camaro's power getting on the highway. I'm not a racer..
The other thing is that with sport mode on it sure FEELS fast enough around the backroads..
I also bought the 250 because I was ready for luxury with better gas mileage because I needed a commuter car and I'm ready for something like this.
If they were the same price, yes, I'd go for a 350 AWD, but they arent.

To the Socalevo(.net???) dude.
FWIW we went to Cerriots for our (hahaha HER) 08 IS250. They were pretty stubborn, but ultimately made it into the office where the salespeoples names are on the dry erase board. They knocked $3000 off of the MSRP. We were the last customers in the building and made them throw in his and hers spill proof Lexus coffee mugs. We have the 18" with navi package. No lux with the memory seats or Mark Lev DVD.
That being said I don't know of any "Smash" Lexus dealers.
