I made a similar transition as you did, OP. I had a 2006 STi, which had a good amount of mods. I traded it in and got $17k, plus a $6k down payment, for a 2010 IS350. The sticker price was $43k and I got it OTD for $39.5k (which includes tax, tags, etc.)... Trading in a car will always give you a good amount of leverage, especially if you are going to finance with them (I did and got 2.9%). I did all of my negotiating via email, and this was with a couple of dealers. I would def. test drive both. I do not miss my STi at all. Sure, boost was fun but the IS350 is just ****ing awesome in every aspect. My wife is going to get the IS250C. I think you will be happy with a 250 and you will get plenty of efficient, worry-free miles on the commute. I know if I set my cruise to 70 mph, I get exactly 30MPG.

just got off phone with one of the internet sales managers here in SoCal. will go in this Friday to test drive. She promised me in email 700 blow invoice on '11 IS250s. i went to Edmunds.com and priced out a '11 IS250 RWD auto with navi, xenon and 18'' (non-f-sport) wheel pkg for 31900. see if i can squeeze a bit more from her (no pun intended
).

I was in the same boat as you 3 years ago. Had a 2005 Evo 8 I bought brand new and drove for over 2 years. Got sick of the "boy racer" look and my commute was longer. Traded in for a 2008 IS250 awd and loved it for the first few months, it had so much luxury! After those few months wore off I started regretting my decision big time. Wished I had kep the Evo because I missed the performance and power, both of which the IS250 didn't have. After a year of owning the 250 I traded it in for a new 350 and have never looked back since. My only regret was that I didn't jump in the 350 immedately. I now have luxury and power. From a roll no stock Evo VIII, IX, or X will stand a chance. From a stop, it's close but the Evo will win. The only thing I miss about the Evo is the tight steering, amazing handling, and outststanding brakes.
