Question How do you diagnose a rough idle?

Hey all,

My other car (not my IS), has been experiencing some rough idling @ stop lights. I'm posting here because there's really no traffic at the other site.

Anyway, the rough idling started after a tree slammed into the hood of my RDX. The tree landed and bounced off, so it wasn't there for a prolonged period of time.

Anyway, I brought the car into the dealership and I was told that this is normal and all within factory specs. How do they test this? Do they sit in the driver seat and feel for vibrations? If so, that's quite subjective. However, on the invoice, they did mention about the RPMs and such. The RPMs are stable and normal. But the vibrations can definitely be felt in the driver seat, steering wheel, and shifter.

My concern is problem w/ alignment or shocks. Any other ideas? I'm going back to the dealership again soon for them to recheck this. Just yesterday, I notice rattling noises as I idled at a stop light. I'm pretty sure it's something...

Thanks!
