for when you have 2 sets of wheels. It's for the TPMS sensors.

I am interested too if someone can explain. I didnt know if this was for two sets of wheels and one set of tpms so when u switch wheels you keep your old tpms. Or can you register two different sets of tpms?

What are you trying to figure out?

Your car currently has a set of sensors in the wheels for tire pressure. That's the main set.

Some people buy a second set of wheels (for winter, or the track, or whatever) and you can put sensors in those wheels too, so "second" is to switch the car to read that set instead.

Kurtz, just wondering, how would that coincide with the spare? I'm guessing you have to have the spare programmed to both the main and the secondary?

Also, if you don't have sensors put on the second set, and you switch the button to secondary, will the light stay lit on the dash or can it be deactivated?

Spare tire doesn't have a sensor in it actually (at least on the 2IS)

But yes, if you switch to the 2nd set on the dash, and it doesn't exist (or exists but hasn't yet been programmed), you'll get a dash light (sometimes takes 25-50 miles of driving to first come on) until you switch back or add a working set... The TPMS system can not be disabled.

damn this is perfect seeing as I just got some vossens that came with their own set of tpms. It DID take about 50 miles before light came on. its annoying cuz it makes u feel like your driving with a problem..

BTW their is a tool that you can connect to the air valve on the wheel and it will read the TPMS code, then its just programming it.

EDIT: should I put my car on "2nd" when programming the vossen set of tpms?

If you're keeping your original wheels/sensors then yes have the other set programmed to 2nd... if you got rid of your original wheels/sensors then might as well program the new set to the primary slot

Quick Reply: what is the tire main/2nd difference?
