Nav with features from this century added in 2010 models (realtime traffic, ipod interface, A2DP profile, etc)... I actually special ordered to avoid nav on my 08 because of how antiquated the system was before this change
That's really the only thing I wish my 08 had. Honestly though, unless you've driven an 08 for a month or so, you really don't have anything to compare it to. If you had an 07, 09, or whatever, I'm sure you'd enjoy it just the same. These minor differences shouldn't hold back your purchase if you would like the car now, and you want it in a specific color or package which would probably not be as available. Just pick one, you'll be happy nonetheless.

but u have to be stopped in order to do this. correct?

Funny I just bought a 2008 IS350 back in mid October with only 8500 miles on it. I got it for a steal too! I came from driving a 2006 IS350 and there are differences, very minor IMO but there are differences. My 2008 has the sport package which IMO is also the best package. The steering is different but it's not very noticable. The thing I noticed most was that it handled much better with the sport suspension, much less body roll and more grip. Mine also came with the F sport exhaust and F Sport intake so i'm very satisified.

Call it bias, but I still consider 08 the best year for the 2IS... I've found nearly everything they did visually since to ugly up the car... (the mirror turn signals, the lobster claw wheels, the tail changes, dropping AFS, cashmere->ecru, etc)

Functionally there's been all of 2 (to me worthwhile) improvements since 08 though:
Nav with features from this century added in 2010 models (realtime traffic, ipod interface, A2DP profile, etc)... I actually special ordered to avoid nav on my 08 because of how antiquated the system was before this change

Relocation of aux/power jack in center console to not require 90 degree bends to use (fixed with $5 in radio shack parts, but an improvement nevertheless)
Many of the same reasons I decided on an 2008 also

...but I like the lobster claw wheels.
