Default The joys of technology (car theft)

So we get to see this start happening soon. Time to go back to a physical key system...

Yea I've been able to start the keyless cars without a key now for a while. I can start a keyed car with immozilier as well in 10 minutes. Working at a junkyard we don't always get a key and we are going to call them dealer to ave a 160 dollar key made when we just want to test the engine and trans. 10 minutes and I've replaced all your immobilizer stuff with one from a car which I have the key. Two pieces of electronics and I'm gone with your car.

One can only hope that the types of people who are high risk for grand theft auto aren't sufficiently well-informed.

Yeah read about this last week too. Just got me wondering why they let you put the car in gear without the key being detected.

I get why they wont cut the engine after a certain distance/time period, but why let you put it in drive at all?

If it gets stolen, the thing I would be pissed off most about is losing all my memory points in the navi. Insurance will cover the car, but I'd lose all those places of interests

i dont think they will be switching to the conventional key. seems easier to steal a car with a key.
