Are TSBs done free? I'm curious because I want to have a few done when I take mine in for the recall. I bought my car from a used car dealer (not lexus) and have one of those third party warranties.. please advise!

I had the valve recall done a month ago, and they performed the fuel pressure sensor gasket recall at the same time. I was really surprised that I got the letter on Saturday (fuel pressure sensor recall). I would have thought that they would have updated their system in a month's time. I suppose it's a formality, considering the letter contains a separate set of instructions "If you've already had the recall performed". The service invoice was billed for 1 hour of labor time. That is likely how long it takes, if not less. If you are not in the automotive industry, you have to understand that there are other cars at the dealer for repair. They rarely pull yours in and start the repair immediately after you drop it off. They have to be worked in. It would be like going to the doctor and not having to wait in the lobby. Just doesn't work that way. How long your repair will actually take is very much dependant on their work load and staffing level for that day.

Seriously, with gas @ $3.75 a gallon for premium here, it is worth it to have recall work done just to have the tank topped off. Ha! I love that they top the tank off. They do almost as good a job washing it as I do, and an even better job detailing the interior. Doesn't bother me a bit...............

So had my first experience with the stealership in Austin yesterday when I took my '07 IS350 in for the fuel sensor recall. I had such high hopes for the experience but in the end it wasn't meant to be I guess
Dropped my car off in the morning (gas tank empty), they asked for any special instructions (I asked them not to wash it) and then picked up the free loaner in about 10 minutes
+1 stealership
So I come back after work to pick it up and I'm greeted as I pull up to return the loaner
+1 stealership
As we're talking they tell me they washed it
-1 for the stealership
Car gets pulled around and is covered in pollen, leaves and general debris from being parked under a tree all day
-2 stealership
BEGIN RANT - I'm **** retentive about my cars, no matter what car it is. I wash them weekly, never use automatic car washes, never park under trees and generally avoid **** that will hurt the paint. For the dealership to park my car under a tree this time of year in Austin is beyond me - END RANT
Icing on the cake, start the car up and gas tank is still empty
-1 for the stealership
In the end they were generally nice and extremely professional, but didn't seem to listen to the one instruction I gave and then didn't fill up the gas tank. I'll live but it wasn't the first impression I had hoped for.
Anyone else have experience with the Austin people?
