So I was driving in the car the other day and my stock (I'm guessing 8") subwoofer in the back of the car blew. I was wondering if anyone had a thread on how to replace it with another aftermarket 8 or could I even upgrade and just put a 10" in replacement of the blown 8" without getting a box and amp and going all out? Just wondering for some help. Just need that little bit of bass back. Thanks guys.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is an aftermarket sub that will fit into the factory location. Do you have the ML or standard system (they use different subs)?

Same issue here....I have the standard system. Otherwise I am gonna put a couple of subs in the trunk and bring the boom....
You can get a free air speaker in 8" or (10"custom braket to mount from the bottom) and need no boxs, but well need to run a amp to push it because the full audio is like 400w its not go to push the subs
this topic has been beaten to death. do a quick search. most members will tell you to remove your factory 8" sub and to get an aftermarket sub+amp. it is entirely up to you what you want to do, but if you do decide to go the aftermarket route, go to the DIY sticky page.
