Did you check if the accelerator/gas pedal was caught by the mat? But you would hear the engine rev up...
i was stationary with my foot on the brake, then the car started moving, iput both my feet on the brake..the car was still moving...i put it in park and it was still moving..then i hit the car infront but only maybee going 3mph. I got the car home and phoned lexus( this car is 6months old) told them what happend and they told me to bring it i in,i wasnt about to drive from Largo(FL) to Tampa in a car that the brakes just failed so they came and towed it and gave me a loaner. I was told a specialist was flying in from Toyota to check the car out,Lexus of Tampa could not touch the car until he had checked it Two and a half weeks later they culdnt find a fault, but im scared to drive this car because this happend and i was there but Lexus deny any faults.
So becareful with the isc 350 or any other IS it may happen to you but make sure you log it,even take the serial number off the computers in your car because i think work may have been done without my knowlegde the lexus people are being very sympathetic without acceptence especsialy since they back dated when my car was ready to be picked even though i was there the day before to recover things out of my car and they told me they hadnt had the go ahead to release it yet but i have paperwork dated 21/01/11 from toyota saying they will be in contact regarding my car then when Lexus returned my car the paperwork was dated that the car was ready to be picked up on the 18/01/11 which is a blatent lie but helps them with any Lemon Law suites. So take close notes and dates whilst dealing with a company that obviously dont care about hte safety of their customers

[QUOTE=grondie;6097508]Over a certain speed, putting the car in park will not stop or slow it down.

So, you were stopped at a light and all of the sudden the car started moving, even though your foot was still on the brake?[/QUOTE

Yes..i was stationary with my foot on the brake and it started to crawl,i put both feet on my brake and still moving..i put it in park and it still kept on moving

What the heck is trolling? and by the way this is the first time ive had a car fail dangerously on me...I have two children that a take to school and pick up,would you be happy to see that i reported later that one or all or even myself had been injured because the brakes failed and my car carried on moving into fast flowing traffic because even though i was in park it moved into the flow of traffic?

The brakes are a lot stronger than the engine though, so it's impossible for the car to randomly start moving forward unless:

A) something was wrong with the brakes

or

B) You were stopped on some surface where the brakes could not stop the car (ie a sheet of ice or something where the tires had nothing to work against)
I live in Florida and the day this happend there was no frost( bit of sarcasm) it was a dry day and the lights i stopped at had a very small incline like most lights in florida so me slideing forward is a definate no no, the car just carried on moveing

I'm sure they are concerned with the safety of their customers which is why they are doing voluntary recalls vs denying them.

I would have refused the car and left it at the dealership if you were that scared.

So now what are you going to do?

Where are you from? Your vernacular is not American, and your spelling isn't consistent with my observations of most UK educated persons.

So, your foot is on the brake, it did not sink suddenly to the floor, but the car started moving? I'd really like to see if the data recorder agrees with your account. You do realise there is a data recorder on board capturing up to the last 2 minutes of activity in the car - checking specifically whether the brakes were applied or not, what the throttle position was, speed, engine operating parameters, etc?

Lexus says there is nothing wrong with the car? Is is possible you're unhappy with the car and looking to try to lemon it for some unrelated reason? I'd bet a lot of money if you tried to lemon law the car, Lexus would meet you in court with all the data from the car and point out the discrepancies between what you are claiming and what the car recorded. I'd bet more than the value of your car you would lose in court pretty quickly.

Your emotional appeals to our good nature don't go very far. Many of us are engineers, and we've dealt with customer service issues. Telling us the car endangered children is not going to get you sympathy. Bumping into the car in front of you because you were inattentive sounds a lot more like what may have happened.

Any chance you could request the EDR data and prove me wrong?
