5000k HID and projector damage?

Hey all, about to order HID kits for my lows and fogs, still doing some thorough research before I delve into aftermarket modifications to my vehicle though. A friend was telling me he's read up on damage done to projectors with 5000k and 8000k HIDs, does anyone have any knowledge of this?

The K temp of the bulb prob does not have much to do with the damage. It is more likely that he used a 55watt ballast which heats up the bulb hotter than the regular 35watt ballast that may have caused an issue. You dont have to worry about that with the IS
