Default Extend Warranty at 58k miles?

Is this possible? A couple grand now isn't such a big deal, 5-10 in a few years might be.

Nope... you can only buy the Lexus one up to the moment your factory warranty expires (4 yrs/50k miles, whichever comes first).... even for the guys who do it over email/phone (troy, toby, etc...) they'll ask your mileage and ask for your VIN to check the date it went into service to verify this.

I'm sure there's 3rd party companies that'll still sell you one, but can't personally vouch for any of em.

correct to get a lexus manufacturer warranty it still has to be in warranty and imo its the only one worth getting.

I wouldn't throw the idea out the window just yet. I've had great success with third-party warranty companies, saved me thousands on my last car. You can find comprehensive warranties from third party companies that cover the same things your Lexus one did. They may be prohibitively expensive though, so you might want to consider a less-comprehensive policy that instead covers the most important (read: expensive to replace) components.

If you're still interested I'd just Google "auto warranty quote" or try warrantydirect.com and check out what it would cost.

i'm mainly worried about the drivetrain.......motor, transmission, AWD.

etc.

I've got 12k miles left.

If I could buy the regular one for a grand or so right now, I'd do that too, then get my dash noise fixed for 1200 :-/

I'll be following this thread also. I'm also in the same boat. I'm worried about what's going to happen down the line. I already had to take it back to the dealership a couple of times. This was with the 30 day warranty.

Again check out warrantydirect or some other online warranty retailers, they sell very reasonably priced warranties for cars of that year and mileage and you can choose different plans/coverages (powertrain only, comprehensive, and everywhere in between).

I'm not at all hawking a specific warranty or company, I'm just a proponent of third-party warranties because I've had great experiences.

And Jmags - my car's in the shop right now for the dash issue (it's got 56k miles but it's certified so it's covered). They're saying they won't cover it? I'd raise hell at your dealership, tell them it's been happening for a while but has only gotten worse (maybe say it starting happening before say 48k miles..?) and bring up TSB L-SB-0044-08 Rev1.

This is one of those things you have to think about before the factory warranty expires. Once the date or mileage goes past there is no way to roll it back. I've heard of a few people getting it when it was within a very short window of the expiration, but usually you have no chance to get it.

Lexus does sell an extended powertrain-only warranty too, and you might still be able to buy that that since you're under the mileage for powertrain (6 yr/70k miles)... but it's still only 6 yrs, just extends it to 100k miles...

If your car qualifies for the valve spring recall you'll be getting this warranty free (at least everyone else has so far)

I was under the impression that the valve spring recall was only for 350's is that wrong?

depends and you really have to read what the warranties cover and when they actually start. some dont start the day you buy them but the day the car was first registered. also some make you pay out of pocket first then be reimbursed.

Nope, that's correct... didn't see anything in your post/sig that mentioned if you had a 250 or 350.... might still be an option for you to buy the 100k extension though.

(Personally I don't think it's worth it... the chances of a major transmission or engine failure between 70 and 100k are fairly remote unless maybe you've got the ****ty manual on your 250)... I mainly bought the full extended on my 350 for all the OTHER stuff that can go wrong and cost stupid amounts of money for being "minor" parts)

FYI, My 08 350 was part of the VALVE recall. If I remembered correctly, Lexus extended my original warranty to 100,000 miles at no additional cost to me because of the said recall. Another reason why I will purchase another Lexus again. They stand behind thier products. Thanks Lexus

Also....If you had the extended warranty already and your vehicle was part of the RECALL, I think they gave out $500.00 gift cards.
