Default Clear Bra Q

I am having my front end repaired and repainted bc some lady decided to slam into the back of my 350, which caused me to hit the person in front of me. My question is should I wait to have the clear bra put on the car (like for 30 days to allow the paint to dry) or should I have them put on the clear bra right after painting?

If I were you I would wait for a month and then put the clear bra on. When I got my front and rear bumper painted I didn't even wash my car for a whole month just to make sure it was dry. better safe than sorry.

wise choice to put a clear bra on

I'll be in the same position as you this summer - I wasn't in an accident, but there are so many rock chips on my bumper that I'll have it repainted and then put on a clear bra. If I wait a month or so, my concern is having new rock chips when I go to have the clear bra installed (I drive the interstate to work every day). That would suck! So basically, I don't want to wait a month.

I agree, if they say it has cured enough and will not have a negative affect, put it on right away! first thing I did when I bought my hwip ... good luck! hope the damage wasnt too bad, sux either way

I was told by the clear bra installer that you need to wait a couple weeks to a month to cure. I'd ask the professionals more and ask him our questions.

^^^ +1 - I had my front bumper and hood repainted and my installer said to wait one month for the paint to cure before the clearbra install.

Most professionals will tell you to wait at least 1 month, 2 in the winter. Don't rush, it can pull the paint off.

I've heard that it should be fine as long as they cure/dry the paint correctly with heat lamps...

Wait for a month like what the body shop says... they're the experts.

My body shop also told me the same when I had my door and rear fender repainted. You have to let the paint breath properly while it's curing. Wait a month...

You should wait. Drive the car as little as possible to prevent rock chips.

I've seen the paint pulled off of a too-fresh install before. Was not pretty.

You want to do whole anything so that you don't see the line anywhere. If your installer is good then he'll wrap the edge too so you'll see no lines anywhere. I got full food and full bumper, didn't get fenders. I really need to post pics of my car so people can see the awesome clear bra work. I also got headlights+fogs+ mirrors (which you can see the line) too.
