We don't have the most secure of all garages, which is what concerns me the most in deciding to buy an IS250 or whatever. It's an open garage in a back alley and people could just climb over if they wanted to. I'd probably put a cover or something over my car when it's parked there overnight or something. But even so, am I just asking for trouble?

+1 about neighborhood. Not so much about the car, but probably more about personal safety drawing a lot of attention.
+1 about the stuff inside is more of a concern than the car itself.
Don't play music really loud when coming back home either. You don't really want everyone to know you've got a sound system.

Honestly, people aren't going to want to steal your IS250 unless you have something like a expensive bodykit/rims but even then it's less likely. If you owned a Honda, the that's something to be worried about. Just don't leave anything laying around in your car and you will be fine.
On the car cover idea, I believe it draws even more attention if people know your car drives. They will wonder what's so special about it that you have to cover it up every night.

car covers just scratch your paint~ dont use one.
For real security? get a Python smart start car alarm, it sends an alert directly to your smart fone ifale/android compatible. Its not cheep but at what price is 'piece of mind'?

Car cover scrached my last car on both doors. Uggh I was so upset.... anyway I think if you don't leave anything visible in the car that they want then there is no reason to break in. I could be wrong but I don't think the normal car thief would kno how to steal the IS so u should be good there to. Do cars get broken into a lot in the unsecure parking place you have?

Don't leave things in plain sight that will attract thieves. They will more attracted if you have a nice wheel... and that's all they can take without smashing your windshield and stealing whatever that's inside.
Our cars are equiped with immobilizer which is VERY hard for a common thief to steal our cars. They have a small window to steal so most likely they rip off your wheels since they sell easily and it's worth more. They won't jack up your car to steal your exhaust or whatever.
