I knew RWD was not the best in the snow but I seem to manage also knew i had the optikn to get my car in AWD but for my own reasons didn't want it ... I have a truck also for that reason, these are all things I've considered before buying this car PLUS I have experience driving a powerful RWD vehicle in the snow, maybe it just wasnt a good match for you ... either way NO BMW!!! get the new STI or something lol my friend picked one up recently, sweet lil ride no more hatchback sedan is back!

Obviously the 0 to 60 times that have been tested by numerous magazines since then have been much quicker.
Even Lexus reduced the "official" time from 5.6 to 5.3 after they realized it was too underrated, though 5.3 doesn't quite do the car justice either.

3rd winter in Milwaukee. I have Blizzaks and 80lbs in the trunk. Runs great. 2 winters ago we got 180" os snow!
Stock wheels with 255 in rear. The blizzaks are 3 years old and I can tell they aren't quite as good as year one, but havent gotten stuck yet.
P.S. I am originally from Pittsburgh. If there were hills like that here I may be telling a different story. It is pretty flat here.

As for performance in the snow, I think it's a matter of managed expectations. For what the folks in Chicago have been going through, I can understand the frustration and there are certainly limits to what a light car with wide low-pro tires are going to be able to do, but I would imagine it could handle decent amounts of snow with snow tires on it. I drove mine back from NJ during the christmas east coast storm and it was not fun but it made it through about 4" on the road with just all seasons rather than snows

I got stuck a few times going in and out of driveways.. except for that my IS350 has been a pleasure to drive in the snow. Went out every storm NY got and was able to get around carefully. Snow Mode was a must, and the car did very well.

lol, this is too funny. please sell your car. you obviously don't like it, and are just looking for an excuse to get rid of it.
any car with rwd with wide tires (snow tires or not) and that much horsepower is going to get stuck in snow. you get 15.5mpg because of the way you drive and where you drive. you complain of the lack of practicality of your car, yet you bought it because it has a fast 0-60 time.
basically what you're saying is that because 10 days out of 365, it snows, you must get an awd car (which won't have the clearance anyway to get through thick snow)... makes all the sense in the world. please throw away your money.

Speed and a good snow driver

Mine 350 is having the same problem, and I drove 70 miles/day going to KU. My 350z with 275 rear tires handle snow much better than IS350 with the same tire (continental), LOL.
Now that I am concentrating on school + getting stuck in light snow dozens of times, I'm considering trading mine in too.
