Out of State IS350 Purchase Question
Hey guys, new to clublexus. In the process of buying an IS350, but not sure how purchasing a vehicle out of state works. I live in Florida and found an IS in California. When I purchase the vehicle, I know I pay Florida sales taxes, but how do I include that in the auto loan I sign with the Lexus dealer in California?
The dealer said I may have to go to the DMV in Florida after the purchase and pay the taxes separately, but I wanted to have this amount included in my original loan. Anybody have experience with out of state purchases & financing?

Out of state purchasing is tricky. Dedepending on how the California law are is how this whole thing will play out. I know in Illinois depending on the state the Illinois delaer will collect and pay the taxes on your behalf and in other cases you pay when you get back.
If you wind up having to pay taxes on your own you can speak with the finance company and they should be able to accomodate.
GL with your purchase. How are you getting the car to Florida? Is the dealer paying for shipping? If you are shipping on your oen be very careful there are alot of brokers that will take you for a ride

Usally you can get it included if your dealer does the registration within your state. Since if out of state your on your own. Im sure you can find somethang closer. Its not that hard to find an 350.

Ya, I've been looking all over for a 2008 IS350 with certain color combinations. Came close to two of them here in Florida... both sold before I could get to the dealerships. If I purchase out of state, I was going to have a transport company ship it here to Florida. Trust me when I say I've tried to find something closer.
I called my bank today and they're going to get back to me on Monday to let me know if they can include the taxes in the auto loan. That would make everything SOOO much easier. I'll let you guys know what they tell me just in case one of you guys is ever in the same position.
BTW, thanks for the welcome to CL, I've been reading posts here for ~1yr since my friend is a big Lexus guy. Had the chance to go to Moroso Motorsports Park a while back and meet up with some CL members... everybody seemed cool and enjoyed both luxury & performance. Right up my alley.

When I bought my IS350 out of state the dealer mailed the title to my DMV for processing and I paid tax there. I did not have the option of wrapping it up in the loan. Then again you could just hold on to some of your down payment for tax, the net amount financed would be the same. Unless your down payment is less than tax in which case I'd urge you to save up a little more so you aren't starting your loan upside down.
