Default Backup Camera / Reverse Camera

Just recently, the backup camera on my IS250 has stopped working (the imagine does not show up)...but it does work 10% of the time. I say 10% because on some mornings, when I shift the car in reverse, the imagine appears without any flaw. But then driving it for a few minutes, I can put it back into reverse and the imagine on the Nav screen doesn't switch over. It just stays at the map screen.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? I hate to bring it in because I just hit the 50k mark and the warranty is up.

I would being it in asap... Since your warranty just expired they may do it. I've seen some dealers do service as a good will gesture, especially if you always go there for service.

Good luck!

Like GiantsFan said, take it into the dealer ASAP and tell them you've been having this issue since before 50k miles but couldn't bring it in until now (or some other excuse) and ask them to take a look at it. If they refuse, take it to a different dealer. If you take it to a different dealer, the other card you can play is by starting out by explaining that you're just coming out of warranty and don't like the other dealer and are considering making this new dealer your dealer of choice for working and maintenance done outside of warranty for the future. They might be inclined to work with you on your current issue if they think it will contribute to their gaining you as a long-time customer.

I had this problem on my car. It only act like this in cold winter at first start up in the morning. I mentioned it to my service advisor many times without any action from their side until I recorded it with my phone camera and showed him. It was then they agreed to replace the whole camera. It works fine since then.

There is a DIY on here for the Rear Cam hack! It is a lot more work than just hacking the nav to watch movies. You need to splice a lot more wires and relay switches and stuff. But it definitely looks cool!

I rather just look over my head. You might as well look into the forward facing camera.

While we're at it, let's not look at anything unless it's through a camera.

I saw that but I'd actually like to drive forward and have the backup camera on. I'm off to search this board for the back up camera hack

Default Back up camera

I just purchased a "used" is 250 (2014). Is the back up camera supposed to beep when it gets close to an object? The camera shows a visual, but I found out the hard way that it does not beep.
