Prior to that, the 2006 4-dr 330i was a pretty much identical-looking sibling to it's 2007 version, except for the twin exhaust on the left side vs. dual single pipes on each side. I actually pondered buying the 335 (or possibly a low mileage 330) prior to getting my IS350 - because I LOVED the smoothness of my IS300's inline 3.0 6-cyl. Still, I am now glad that I did what I di and have ZERO regrets!!

My vote is to go with the '06 IS350, but obviously I'm biased!
Just has a dual exhaust? . The 2006 330i has a N52 I6 3.0 255HP engine while the 2007 BMW 335i has a N54 I6 TWIN TURBO 300HP engine. BIG difference.

I think the interior of most BMW's is just too basic for what the car looks like on the outside. But it makes up for it in performance. The 335 coupe has a lot of power on tap and feels so nice no matter what speed your driving it at. When my buddy first got his we didn't even realize we were going nearly 100mph on the highway.

Between the 335 and an isx50 i'll take the IS But thats because i value reliability and fuel economy more than performance. Actually, if i didn't care about gas prices i'd take a 335 =P

my 335 gets 23-25 mpg ..my is350 gets 21-22 .

Seriously, you are the first and ONLY person I've ever heard say that^^^^^ All of my friends with Bimmers complain about reliability and maintenance expense. Not one of my friends with Lexus vehicles complain about reliability, not one.

lols he drives a ES thats why hes probably never been in or drove a is350 before the only thing good bout the 335i is the body styling but then again the is350 body styling is JUST as sexy if not sexxier

and yes the n54 engine is very easily tunable but whats the point of being so tunable and breaking down half way during a race or before it even starts

and the is350 is a NA 306 hp v6 dont you think its sad that the bimmer has a TWINTURBO engine and is virtually even with the IS350 in a straight line... imagine if our cars came twin turbo from the factory... byebye 335 !

In the first post you said its a 2006 coupe so its a E46 (325/330Ci), you do realize the E9X (328/335i) weren't released until 2007? If it is a 2006 E46 coupe, then I'd pass on that. That car was originally designed in 1999 and will feel slightly outdated (esp. the interior) compared to the 2IS.

On a distant topic, my friend's 1997 323i had his transmission broke down while in Oakland. Scary! Slowly limped home in safe mode or something. Replacing it would have cost more than what he bought the car for so he sold it.

My relative's 1996 es300 just had maintenance done and it's still running good.

But you could be getting a tuuurrrboooo!!!!

here is a quote from a person who was the head of te service departement at a BMW dealership:
"BMWs are great cars, but its a car you buy with warranty and sell it before the warranty runs out"
this person is now the head of a Lexus dealership service department

If price is a general concern then I would go with the IS; Driving a BMW w/o the maintenance warranty can get pretty pricey. At least with the IS you only have to do simple and typical service (oil every 5k, brake fluid every 30K, spark plugs every 60K) and plus you can have a toyota dealer do the service.

However, the 3 series does provide a pretty thrilling ride...
