2007 IS250 needs a new transmission?
I took my car in to the dealer on Monday to get the side mirror fixed. I'd been waiting in the lobby for about an hour when the service advisor said that they suspected something was wrong with the transmission and they were going to give me a loaner car. He was vague on the details and said he didn't know anything else.
I called yesterday [Wednesday] to check on the status of my car and am told that they're waiting to confirm that there is a problem with the transmission and I'm finally told that when the valet drove it into the garage, the shifter was stuck and they couldn't get it out of gear.
This morning, they called me and told me that it is, indeed, a problem with the transmission and it needs to be replaced.
It's a 2007 IS250 manual transmission with 30k miles on it. I baby the car, change the oil when I'm supposed to, etc. I haven't had any issues with the car aside from the glass in the side mirror coming loose. Has anyone else heard of the IS having tranny problems? Could it have been something the valet did when he was driving it in?
