Default Can a 350 be detuned?

Just came up into mind.

Can a 350 be "detuned" down to a lower its power if one finds it too powerful?

More like F1, when FIA started regulations changed that all teams must be using a V8 engine (from V10) however some teams were not ready to use a V8 yet. The alternative was to allow the teams who were not ready to "detune" their existing V10 engines down to V8 equivalent until a certain deadline then they must have and use the V8s.

Just switch into "snow" mode. It'll drive like a 4 cylinder!

Well I'm thinking of being able to adjust the power such that it is inbetween a 250 and 350.

Get a throttle controller (Blitz, 3Drive) and put it in one of the Eco modes. Technically it will still have the power if you fully floor it, but the lower half of the pedal's response curve can be lowered significantly.

Buy a 250 or don't push the pedal as hard/fast/much.

You have got to be kidding. How can anybody compare an F1 engine to a high volume production car. As someone said get a 250.

What I am trying to say is that, the team and engine manufacturers were able to turn down the power of the engines, thats' why I mentioned F1 engines because that is what the teams did who did not have a V8 engine ready. To me that's like turning down the HP/toque so the cars would not have an advantage over teams with V8 engines.

I'm just saying, not literally but wondering if it can be done.

My reason, well I'm used to 200 HP, that is fine. 300 is quite a jump in terms of how it feels. Comming to 250 from 99 Camry Solara, the power is relatively the same except Solara was a bit more powerful overall because of more toque and lighter curb weight. Before going with a 250, I test drove a 2011 Camry (Solara was dropped for 2009 but it is the same car). I was suprized about how much power it actually produced and before I knew it, finding out it was a 3.5L V6 268 HP. To be honest I was not quite used to it because it was bit too much for my liking. I understand with the technology changes over the time, the engines had gotten revised and more powerful during the years for not looking at cars.

I think my question is more about turning down the toque. I did the math back a while ago, the torque numbers did show the differences.

^^^ No offense but this makes no sense at all ... Nobody is used to a car, they buy it then adjust to it. Like I'd said, no offense but I'm just rolling my two cents on the table.

Is that what test driving is for? It took me a year before I choose a 250 in the first place and was test driving it often at the dealership since I knew my Solara was falling apart and wanted something similar in performance. It was almost to the point that the dealership was wondering if I was ever going to get a car, then it came the day when I did.

As I said, I do agree that the 250 can be bit more powerful, maybe to match that of the Solara or even a bit better, but other than that I am still happy with the choice I made. This would be questions about the next car to see what's in store for me.

Test driving is for u to test out the car to see if it's the one for u, u'd already bought it and test drove it many times. U'll get use to it as the days, months, or even years goes by so don't worry. No need to detune, just baby it if it's a bit too much.

That's what I plan to do and baby the new car, if I do decide to go 350. Will see what gen 3 cars have up in store when it gets closer.

Just had to ask since asking Lexus themselves, give me the generic response (disclaimer!!) and not give me the answer I was looking for, hoping someone knew this. More like the cluster and switching it out with a differnet country version of the same thing - for that one, it was with help of the Parts Manager who helped me find the information out and the answer is yes, it works after getting the run around from corporate.
