I've gotten pulled over a few times for tint but never got cited for not having a front plate. As you said, they usually don't feel like walking to the front for no reason.

That's why Im not worried about the illegal Joe-Z intake. Why would the cop want to check under my hood?

If you have like Military ID, or prosecutor ID, they might just let you off the hook! At times, it maybe an "escort" because the ID makes them think you are a very important person!

I've only been pulled over twice in about 6 years of driving for no front plate. No tickets either time. One time a state trooper pulled me over on the highway for no front plate just to tell me. I got a "Fix-It Ticket (no fee, just need to get it signed off by a cop saying I "fixed it"). I guess it was probably because I was driving my highly modified Evo but didn't give me a ticket for modified exhaust?!

You could always get one of the tow hook plate mounts if you don’t want to drill into the front bumper to mount the plate holder.
http://www.rhoplate.com/RPTL01.html
That way you can still take the plate off for shows and meets and then put back on for daily driving or when you park in a place that has parking enforcement.

I don’t own one yet, but if I ever get a “fix-it-ticket” for no front plate, I will be getting one of these to get it signed off.

Hmm is there one that would make it place more in the center and use both tow hooks so the place could be placed in the center? At leat make it a bit cosmetically better than having it on one side.

^ That is the only one that I know of. Also, there is only one tow hook (on the drivers side).

Get a Bell Adjustable License Plate Bracket and get creative.

I mounted one of these two my lower mesh grill with some toggle bolts from Lowes and have a no drill semi permanent option for the front plate.

I hate having front license plates on my cars. When i got my IS i made sure the dealership didn't put it on. I never had to sign anything either when i bought it. I live in SoCal too. The only time ive had trouble with the front license plate is when i was parked. If you ever go to Laguna, LAX, downtown SD, Downtown LA, your almost guaranteed of getting a ticket for no front plate. LAX police are notorious for handing out front license plate tickets, even if its in your window (which btw is not legal - learned that the hard way lol)

Personally, im not gonna put the front plate on. I will pay the fine and have the front end look clean rather than have a ugly bracket and plate on the front. I LOVE the look of the 2IS front end with no plates.

Agree with KillaIS250. I specifically asked the dealership not to mount the front license plates when I bought the car new. They kinda mentioned that by Texas law it is required, but I wasn't asked to sign anything. I didn't get pulled over the 2 years I had the car, so no problems. I do think the car looks cleaner without the front plates.

I guess it's depends on the dealership then. Supposedly they require you to sign a wavier - I know the dealership here does.

Not having a front plate is just giving the police a reason to pay extra attention to you and pull you over. Don't be surprised when a cop coming from the other direction sees it and makes a u-turn to get you. It doesn't matter if it's a beater or a luxury car, I know someone with a Mercedes SLR, Bentley W12, and Cadillac CTS V who had his front plates installed on all the vehicles. Cops really don't care what you're driving, this state needs the revenue and fix-it tickets are customary in California. Unless you like having to worry about stupid things and always want to have it in the back of your mind that you have an extra reason to get pulled over, just follow the law and put it on like you're supposed to. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches.

Oh my bad. I always thought there was two hooks. Since I did notice it on the driver's side and just assumed there was another there without actually paying attention to the other side.

I've been driving with no front license plate on all my cars for 10 years and have been pulled over once for no plate ($20 fix it) ... This was because my Integra was slammed and i was driving slowly through a beach area.. He just wanted an excuse to look under my hood.. Other than that, cops usually won't pull you over for no front plate unless they need an excuse or they think your trouble. I'm a trouble maker >=)

I was pulled over for just that, no license plate. It was in a rural neighborhood, he had to pull a u-turn to get me. But it was just a warning. I've been pulled over several other times, and given only warnings. But other than the one cop who pulled me over for just that, no one has said anything.
