Hey everyone! My name is Justin, new member here, been a long time lurker. Picked up a new 2010 IS350 last year, and have kept it stock besides tint.
To explain my username, I'm from the bay area, but reside mostly in LA. Loving the car so far, it's great to drive. Came from an 96 Honda Accord, so huge difference.
The car itself, silver, black interior, fully loaded except sport package. Now this is where your help comes in. I noticed today as I was walking around my car that there is a cut in the front right wheel sidewall rim protector. It doesn't look too deep, no belts showing, but of course concerned.
Only 1600 miles, don't want to have to buy an OEM bridgestone tire for $250+ or even change both fronts to Hankook's or something.
What do you guys think? I took it by one tire shop, he said its fine, mostly cosmetic, just get some silicone glue and it will be fine. I trust you guys more, i've seen the quality of this community and the wealth of knowledge around here is incredible!
Feels great to be a part of the CL forums, finally! Thanks in advance!

You can replace it or keep an eye on it.
Honestly, damage to the sidewall is never good. Most shops will tell you to replace it. I would, i have before. It's happened twice to me, once i got it replaced (thank you discount tire road hazzard warranty!) and the second time i waited a few thousand miles since i was going to change tires in a couple months anyways.

Thanks for the advice guys! That's why I wanted to hear from CL since you guys would have more real world experience with these specific tires/wheels.
I really don't want to have to replace the tire since it's practically brand new. Thinking about gluing it for now, not cornering hard, and waiting until my next service to ask the dealer to take a look.
I've read a few threads here, and I originally wanted to upsize to 235/40s up front - seems like a few people have done it with fairly minimal rubbing.
Or do what DigitalDon did and possibly look at new wheels/tires combo. Full face F-sports? =)
Thanks again for the advice, and anyone else please provide your insight!

Thanks guys! I feel more comfortable now going with the glue approach.
As for upsizing, mostly cosmetic I suppose, i know the contact patch won't do much for performance. It just seems to me the current setup has the fronts looking almost "stretched" where the rears fit a little better.
I've seen your name thrown around here and there, brociouz, what is your advice? Judging by your sig, you're on the Hankook Ventus Evo V12s? What do you think about them?
If I had to change the tire, I was thinking either buy 1 OEM Bridgestone ER33 to match the rest, or change out both front tires for the Hankooks. Would have ended up being about the same price, and could have kept the other good ER33 as a spare.

I had that happen on my OEM bridgestones as well (damn curb...) .... The "rim protector" part didn't look like it was part of the sidewall so I just left it ...
I drove on it till the tires needed replacing... I think you should be fine, especially since a tire shop said so. Usually they would tell you to replace because they want your business, so if they told you otherwise I'd believe it.

Dang dude you hit the curb in you new car? I stay so far away from the curb still lol
.... I agree with the other guy when he said if the tire shop said it was ok then believe em bec I'm sure they would get you for some money if they had a doubt. You don't think you would have any rubbing issues with upsizing to the 235.
