Default Headlight Condensation - Bad Install???

I recently dropped in an aftermarket HID kit into my IS - there is a little cover which seals back up the lightbulb compartment which I didn't put back on - didn't have the tool to drill the holes into it.

The Passenger Side is fine - completely normal - however the drivers side has water droplets on the inside of the cover - a lot.

I read there is a problem with the IS lights and you need to take it back to the dealer - but my question is this happening to mine because of not putting that cover back on?

Thanks -

Are you talking about the headlights??? I don't know about having to drill anything...is this because you didn't have stock HIDS? All i had to do was plug in the new d4s bulb and seal the compartment....can someone else be of more help?

If you didn't drill a hole, then I'm assuming you mean that you omitted reinstalling the plastic covers (that you have to open to access the bulbs) that were there to prevent moisture from getting into your headlamp. That definitely needed to have been put back on. If you had drilled the holes, your HID kit should have come with a rubber stopper/plug to seal the opening and prevent moisture as well.

^^^ Second that.

If you were installing aftermarket HID from scratch, you need a hole saw to cut a hole into the headlight cover. The kit should come with a gromet to keep the moisture out. As a precaution, some people use silicone glue around the gromet to make sure the seal is good.

If you left out the cover, then that's why condensation was building up in your headlights. Or you didn't have a good seal on the cover.

To get out the condensation, you can stick on a couple packs of the moisture absorbing silica packs and close the cover. It should get rid of the moisture in a day or 2.

The dealer won't be able to help, because the mod actually allowed the condesation happen. The warranty would be voided in this case.
