Default 55w HID kit?

hey guys, so ddm tuning is backordered on the 35w raptor kits. i put in my order 3 weeks ago and they are now just telling me that they dont have an ETA on when they'll come in. BUT they do have all 55w kits. So what happens if i run a 55w kit? and what other things will i need if i do get it.

I run a 55 watt ballast and 50 watt Philips HIDs in my 4Runner with an upgraded harness. If you decide to run 55 watt ballast, you will need an the upgraded harness and make sure you install 50 watt bulbs if they don't come with them. You can run 35 watt bulbs, but they will have a shorter life span since you will be over working them. I'm not sure how the IS projectors handle the added heat. I have Acura TL projectors modded in my 4Runner.

They use the same bulb as the 35W one. They probably just call it their "50 w" bulb, but it's unlikely they actually produce a similar one. I bought the 55W kit over a year ago, and have been running a 35W Philips 85122+ bulb on it using a standard harness to the battery. No problems yet, and it is slightly brighter. It does make the color more yellowish though.

Will the housings handle a 55W bulb? Sometimes 55w will melt the housing if its higher than the factory bulb rating. I'd be afraid it would burn the reflectors in the headlight/foglight.
