Default Possibly buying a Lexus IS250

Ok, my background - I own Audi's... know them and love them

Don't know much about Lexus, however my wife wants one.

She wants a used IS250

I found one at the dealer - CPO - 2007 with 90k miles. They're asking $16,200

She doens't want a car with that high mileage... I personally am not afraid of high mileage (if the car is kept up well)

So, I guess my questions are:

1. any reason to run from a 90k IS250?
2. what are some of the bigger issues with these cars?
3. will shocks/springs/control arms start to squeak/squeal as I approach 100k like my Audi's do?
4. Maintenance...well, I'm used to german cars so I'm assuming this will be simpler on a Lexus.

Anything else? Thanks guys!

Scheduled maintenance on a RWD automatic 250 or 350:

Every 5K: change oil (see below)

Every 15k: check/clean air/cabin filters

Every 30k: Change said filters (takes 5 minutes to do yourself); Also change brake fluid.

Every 60k: Change spark plugs

Every 100k: Change coolant

That's pretty much it.

On the oil- the book says every 5k. Repeated UOA from a lot of owners has shown that in normal driving you can easily go 10k between changes with normal oil, and go to 1/yr changes for any reasonable amount of miles with any good synthetic... this is a pretty clean burning engine.

Note that some folks with 250s (not 350s) have experienced a carbon build-up issue, seems to most commonly happen around 50-60k miles, and is "fixed" with a top engine cleaning, but then comes back in another 50-60k. Lexus has a TSIB for the cleaning for free under warranty (the CPO would cover you here for another 10k I guess so if it hasn't been done recently you might can get it done) but I'd probably add such a cleaning to expected scheduled service, though not everyone seems to have it happen to em.

Out of curiosity, what's the CPO warranty run until?

I ask because I just bought a 2007 CPO IS350 with 55k miles on it and the CPO warranty is for 3 years or until 100k miles. I assume for the CPO to be worth it on a 90k car it would have to run longer than 10k more miles..

Can't be a Lexus CPO vehicle.

Lexus only allows a Lexus to be CPO if it's no older than 6 years AND has less than 70,000 miles.

I thought that was the case, that's what my dealer told me when I bought mine...

I have a Lexus with now 95.000 KMs. I don’t have any Problems with the car for now. In Germany we have a Special insurance "Lexus Select" for buying used cars. I think it works for three Years...

Not sure how or why they're selling it as a CPO, but you could probably get them to knock some money off of it. Since the CPO warranty would be gone after 10k miles.
