i see what you guys are saying but on the lexus website it says that the is has sequential paddle shifters
"IS sport sedans with the available automatic transmission are fitted with race-inspired steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. They allow drivers to quickly upshift or downshift gears without taking their hands off the wheel."
so if they dont really shift the car are they false advertising??

The Lexus website is pretty bad about this and I've gotten several free things from them as a result of other things they've misrepresented on the car via the website. (for example the Mark Levinson WITHOUT nav option stated for years (and still might) that it includes a DVD changer... it doesn't... you only get that with ML -with- nav... when I pointed out to Lexus I paid for a DVD changer they advertised and the car doesn't come with they sent me a check for the full MSRP of the ML option)
Never tried to get anything out of em on the shifters though... but if you want evidence do this-
The car has a multi-display that shows the actual gear it's in at any time... Put the car in S mode, which defaults to 4.. now go to the "actual gear" display, it'll say 1 since you're stopped. Now move the paddle up or down once. It'll still say 1, because that's the gear you're in and the paddles aren't shifters.
