Default question about special ordering a car???

hey guys, after searching for about a month and talking to 4-5 dealership for a 2011 IS 350 AWD with nav/ML. there are none in the US and they all said i have to special order the vehicle.. which would take around 2-3 months

one sales guy said that if i special with the nav/ml that i would have to pay full MSRP.. i would not be able to negotiate the price to get a better deal..(cause its a special order) that sounds a little fishy to me.. or is this true?

im not willing to pay full MSRP i think its ridiculous..

can someone confirm this cause if its true should i just wait a few more months and maybe they will have it on there lots to just buy it then

Well, I am not expert but I doubt you have no wiggle room for the price no matter what options you order. Dealerships are known to **** you around, I would call around to other dealerships around your area and see what kind of answers they give you.

Yes, you'll have to special order if you want Nav/ML. I would think the only reason the dealer wants to full MSRP because the 350 AWD is new for this year. Consider ordering a regular 350, then you'll be able to get it at invoice or slightly under invoice.

They say they cannot discount the car because the car would not be sitting on the lot since it is a special order.

They may be able to wiggle some room for discount but not as much compared to one of the standards builds which is sitting on the lot.

I think Kurtz was the one who mention if they do not deviate from MSRP, look at another dealership for special order.

the reason im looking for the AWD because i live in MI which has really bad winter seasons so the AWD will come in handy

Felixdang,

Have you considered the RWD with winter snow tires? You can save up to 3 MPGs right off the bat for the less weight. Possibly also modding the RWD to also have true LSD which would help in getting out of the snow too.

you dont have to pay full msrp for a special order but that dealer may have their own policy to not discount them. they want to sell inventory they already have.

Yeah, find a better dealer.

I didn't pay ANYWHERE near MSRP for my special order.

AWD will be tougher since it's new to the 350 this year though... and I'd also encourage you to consider a RWD model.

With good snow tires it'll outhandle an AWD on all-seasons quite handily, and you'll enjoy better mileage and performance year-round without the extra weight and drivetrain drag of an AWD system.

Find a better dealer. I custom ordered my 2010 IS 350C with F-sport brakes, rims, Dynamic CC, Mark Levinson, and Parking assist. Paying MSRP for a custom car is b**********t. I paid about 5% over invoice for my custom-built IS 350C. Good luck.

I agree too, dealers DO discount custom orders. (at least here in MA they do). I spoke with Porsche dealer once and was told that even if I custom-ordered a car - I could still get a discount
