The invoice cost will depend on the options.

That's why paying a % of it sucks compared to a flat amount.

The more options on the car paying a % the more "extra" you're paying.

For example:

Base IS350 AWD, no options: $38,250 invoice.

IS350AWD, Lux package, ML/Nav, Park Assist: $43,075 invoice

3% on the base model is $1147.50
3% on the other model is $1292.25

You're paying almost $150 more straight into the dealers pocket for no good reason in that example.

Just say you'll pay $500 over invoice. Then all your options are paid for at invoice price, rather than invoice+dealer profit. Heck even if you said $1000 over invoice you'd be ahead of the 3% option and I find 1k over to be high personally.

It's not like it cost the dealer more to check an option box on the order form.

Honestly I just walked into a dealer and said this is what I want and I want it for invoice. And I'd to finance it. Depending on how you want to pay, you should be able to pay it all off within the first month to not get hit with any interest. I'd check on that though.

i think it's a very decent deal no matter if its a special order or not... or maybe i'm just not so lucky with dealers..
