In my opinion, the best charger/player for your iphone would be the spec.dock ashtray dock...you have to have some sort of ipod/iphone integration installed to use the dock, but it looks good, well hidden, and easy access. The only bad part is it cost $150.00...

OK let me be clear on what the Kensington cord is that I linked to above. On one end is the iPod/iPhone Apple dock connector. It's a Y-cord so in the middle it splits, so on the other end are two cords, one is a 3.5mm aux-in cord, and the other end is USB.

I have an '07 IS and it does not have USB in the center console either, but that doesn't matter. In your center console there's an aux-in port next to an AC/cigarette lighter port. The 3.5mm aux-in end of the Kensington cord gets plugged into the aux-in port: this plays music. The USB end of the Kensington cord gets plugged into the AC adapter that comes with the Kensington cord, and that gets plugged into the cigarette lighter next to the aux-in port, and this charges the phone.

Make sense?

And the sound quality should be fine if you play music while charging as long as you have the TSIB for ground-loop done, as that eliminates the buzzing.
