Stock halogens are 55W, most common HID's are 35W.

HID's are brighter, typically last longer, and consume less power than halogen bulbs.

Yup, HIDs use less power, and look cooler. Win.

^ Not the best idea particularly if you use your high beams to flash other drivers (it's hard on the ballasts to turn on and off rapidly).

That's a no go. HIDs need to be warmed up. High beam's usually don't stay on constantly (you flash them or use them for a few seconds at a time) so your kit wont last as long. Plus, HID's in the high beam = terribly blinding to everyone else. Anyways, the highbeam is also the DRL on the 2IS, so its a no go for sure lol

that idea would not work on the IS. Our DRL are also our highbeam; the drl are the highbeams at 50% and the highbeams are the same bulb at 100%. However when you switch to a HID bulb, they are always at 100%, so when your trying to use the highbeam feature, there will be no difference.

If you are concerned about the amount of light, remember that our HIDs are already bi-xenon. When you switch on your high beams, a shutter in each HID projector moves out of the way, removing the sharp cutoff of light and allowing the HIDs to shine further down the road. The halogen high beam lamps are supplementary.

The DRL would not work at all due to the insufficient power being sent to the HIDs, and unless you plan to keep your high beams on for extended periods of time, the bulbs will quickly burn out from the quick on-off cycles

The DRL problem could easily be solved by simply turning off the DRL functionality (must be done at a dealership). However, unless you're driving on abandoned roads with your high beams on constantly, it's still a bad idea given what I and others have said.
