I'm not a big fan of hybrids... If you were to purchase between a Corolla and a Prius. I would sweep up the Corolla in an instance. The premium you have to pay for hybrid is just not cost efficient at the current pricing. In order to break even on an hybrid car, gas prices has to remain at $4.10 and you need to drive 430,000 miles in your hybrid versus a Corolla. This is assuming you paid $25000 for a Prius versus $18,000 Corolla.

I actually like what little I know about the CT200h. It seems reasonably priced, especially for a luxury car. It's pretty practical between being a sedan and its very impressive 42/40 mpg (I heard that in practice, the mileage is actually even better). It's a pretty good looking car, IMO, especially for what it is. And being a Lexus, I'm sure it has excellent build quality and reliability with a good set of interior amenities.
But yeah, a 10-second jog to 60 mph is a major turn-off... That's almost dangerously slow. There's no way I would replace my IS350 with it, but I wouldn't mind having one to drive to work every day alongside a sportier car.

This has been on my mind for a few days now. I haven't been too thrilled by the IS350 since I got it 4 months ago, so losing it wouldn't hurt too bad. I might go down and see what i'll get for a trade. If its enough i'll probably take the plunge, get the CT, and pay off the difference. I'll still have my GS430 for when I need something with some power.

How often do u go ballz out and floor your car? If its less than once every 2 days, then it may not be worth it to hold on to the 350.
I sometimes regret getting the 350 because i find myself counting mpg and trying to coast worried about gas mileage more than i go WOT. But i always have gotten performance cars in the past and the 350 does put a smile on my face when i go for a spirited drive.

I had the privilege of test driving the is250, is350, and CT200H before making a decision. The is250 felt heavy and lacked the "get up and go" factor. CT200H has a comfortable drive but for normal driving, RPM was usually high (3-4k with normal acceleration). Engine noise was very audible during acceleration. The is350 gave me a permanent smile when trying to pass on the freeway. I had to ask the sales rep why there was an orange circle lighting up on the speedometer. He said it does that when I go over 80. I said, "Uhhh...."
I went with the is350 without a doubt.
When buying a hybrid, consider the cost of replacing the inverter and battery about 8-10 yrs down the road.

I bought a IS350 for the looks and power…and when the performance hybrids are readily available, and compatibly priced I will get one. Most folks do not know that currently Lexus’s 3rd fastest car is a Hybrid…. LFA… ISF…GS450h

That is not Really an issue..... The Prius has been sold in the US for 11+ years now, and since 1997 in Japan... and even with the very early Technology the 97's-04's used...batteries and inverters are not a problem... ((there were some interconnect cables causing issues in the first gen, very early batteries) There are plenty of Prius in Canada, where they use them for cab's with over 300k miles on original battery, engine and trans.. Have some been replaced? Absolutely, but rarely and normally under warranty... And much, much less than many items like transmissions on many other types of cars.
