Default Issue with TPMS

I tried to seach but couldnt get the answer i needed. I had my Lc818 installed on friday, when it was done everything was fine no issue. After driving 15 mins down the road. I get the Check system light with the tire pressure symbol. I pull over to check my tires to see if i lost any air.

I decided to pull over at a gas station and check my pressure anyway. Still it didnt fix. Next day i get in the car and the check system light and tire pressure light went away. I thought it would be fine after that but then again it came back on the day after. Called the place i got my new rims and tires installed and the guy said to bring it by and he will take a look at it. Took it there today and and another guy told me that the TPMS might have gone bad or that i would have to take it to the dealer and get it reprogrammed. I was like WTF, why didnt they tell me before hand when i called.

But anyways, you guys are more experienced in this issue i assume. Needed some insite on this problem i have.

Do you have a set of seņor on your new rims? If you did you ever get them program as the 2nd set? If not then get it done. The reason they go off is that if you park it next too your stock tire it read the sensor is there. Once you drive far away the pop back on.

well i do have them installed in my rims right now. Like i said when they went off they went off for a whole day and i was out driving with no issues.

What they pretty much did was transfer my stock tpms to the new rims and tires

Well could have them double check the install on the sensor. Make sure fitting is good.

I got winter rims & tires but did not bother to install TPMS. As mentioned by previous post, while car is close to sensors still in summer wheels, the system detects no problems. On my LS, after driving a short distance, you see "checking" message and then after driving more than 10-15 miles (not time sensitive) you get the warning chime and message to get system checked at dealer. On returning to my garage (where sensors are stored) system returns to normal. Then whole sequence repeats next time I leave garage.

So, assuming tire pressures are all correct, if you really do have working old sensors in new wheels I would think you should not get any problems/warnings. I also don't think any reprogramming should be required as the vehicle should still recognize the original sensors.

If sensors not actually installed - then you get warnings/chimes
If sensor(s) damaged on install - then you get warnings/chimes
If any sensor(s) replaced - then you get warnings/chime until reprogrammed

After you filled your tires up to the correct pressure did you re-initalize your TPMS? Give that a try and see if it makes the light go away.

If you get the "check system" light and not the "pressure" light it's not the tire pressure but rather the computer is not reading the sensor(s). That is kind of weird since these are the same sensors you had on the car before. Looks like a trip to the dealer or a tire shop that can program/check sensors is in order.

look at the valve stem...if its metal with a nut that looks like its holding the valve stem in place then they should be installed.
