Default Winter tires... 17" or 18"

Hi,

Just curious for most of you owners that have winter tires, which size do you recommend going to?

Thanks

same here. Stock rims with Blizzak LM70 225/45/17 all around so I can rotate them

Hit this major pothole going to work the other day cause I was following this suv too closely going down a hill and thought I damaged something but when I checked, the rim and everything was fine.

stockies are bulletproof!

*knock on wood*

Yes, the IS250 and IS350 had the same 17" wheels.

I run 205/50R17 all around, Toyo Observe G-02+.

yeah, I got my 17 stockies used off a guy with a 250 and they fit fine

Haven't checked yet but if my car came originally with 18's do they give you a 18 spare?

I was told that 205's were too skinny for our cars b/c of the weight. I assume you have had no problems?

The 2IS came with 205/55R16's on base models in some countries (including Canada from 06-10).

I run the stock 18s, but the ride is more bumpy with the winters on IMO. I think it has something to do with the composition of the rubber. Anyways, I would recommend 17s to preserve your ride quality.

Anyone try running 225 45 17? Will it throw off the speedo much?

read my post. that's exactly what I'm running

my non winter setup is 225/40/18 and 255/40/18

no issues with traction control, speedometer, etc

should be less than 3% difference from the 18 stock setup

17's would be ideal. The cost of 18" snow tires is pretty expensive. You can throw on General Artic Altimax in 205/50/17 for around $500 or 225/45/17 for $550.

I hate when you guys quote things

I paid $905 for my 4 blizzaks at Costco up here and then I had to take them elsewhere and pay to install b/c their computer said I had to run staggered and I didn't want to do it for my snow tires...
