Hey guys,
I noticed when I have my sunroof open on "tilt" mode I hear a crackling or creaking noise when driving. Anyone else experience this problem?

i dont think it's a problem.. i think it's function is to steer water from going into the car

inspect the rails, grease if they look really dry.

Also, lubricate the weather stripping all around the sunroof. you can use a silicon tire shine product, or the best in my experience is 3M silicon lubricant - wet type. was going to make a post about this. i used it on all my weather stripping last night and the tiny little creaks are gone. stuff dries out after a few years....and dirt cheap to try.

I hear a similar sound occasionally never done anything about it though. I don't hear many of the sounds everyone else hears due to the music and exhaust

yeah if i have it in tilt mode and hit a bump it will rattle. Might be those rails and not sure if "lubing" it will cure that. its not a creaking due to contact kind of noise. its more like hitting a bump and the rail moves lifts up and down creating the rattle sound.

I have that same problem. I may try that 3m lubricant.

Not trying to steal the thread, but for mine it rattles when I have the roof cover open, but the sunroof closed...what do you think that issue could be?

possibly the rails that house the roof cover...we probably hear the same sound! lol

yea, I get this when my sunroof is tilted as well. seems to go away when I bring up the issue when I get my car serviced. They grease the tracks and stuff. It's annoying how quickly it comes back tho.

i get this when my sunroof is tilted. i have no idea whats up with it, but it wouldnt hurt to try lubricating the rails like some members suggested. ill have to try it this weekend.

I get this in tilt mode too. I reported it once (to the dealership) and they said they couldn't reproduce it. In their defense it does only seem to happen occasionally (usually around 20-40mph) and in combination with minor bumps or road imperfections.

I might try the lubricant as well. If someone tries it, and it resolves the issue...I think they should update this thread. :-)

Mine also rattles over bumps when in tilt mode. Dealer could not duplicate it. I'm afraid to have it adjusted, as the last car I had ended up leaking through the roof after the dealer worked on it for rattles.

i tried lubricating it and somehow help the rattling, less noise.you should try it!

Had the same problem before; brought it to Steven Creeks Lexus they took care of the problem and it stop for about 6 months and now it seen to becoming back.
