If you really want it, bring a mechanic with you to inspect the car. The body alignment is important... if the car is in a big accident, the body alignment will be off. You can start by checking the gaps between doors, fender, hood, trunk. Symmetry is important.
Also test drive it, if it feels floaty or pulls to one side. It's a sign that the chassis is tweaked or off. Alignment may be off, but usually they'll align it for. But when chassis is tweaked, no matter how many alignments performed... it will never align.
Avoid if any thing seems strange. The last thing you want is another accident and the chassis doesn't hold up.

I suggest stay away from it and do not waste time.
The dealer can lie about what really happend to the car. Damage from the rear may sound the best scenario but who can prove it? After it is sold "as is", even if you found out that it had other damages besides rear, it is hard to get some compensation.
Dealer is in the business of making money. I am sure they already factoring all the parts and labors to repair the car into the $30K asking price. If it is indeed in great condition, they would have asked for a higher price.
This car is for someone who can inspect the cars and know a lot of cars (is350 in particular) and can do most of the repairs himself and intend to drive the car for a long time (assuming it does not break early) since the resale value of the car will be much lower than $30K.

If you are willing to roll the dice and potentially pay the consequences down the road then go for it. I would not touch it. 28K for a car with lots of ?????????????? is not the way I roll. Resale will absolutely suck. You can buy a lot of new cars for 28k. They are not an IS 350 but you won't be second guessing yourself. Just my opinion.
