My 2006 IS's spoiler is just as tight as it was when it was put on in 2006 with absolutely no gap whatsoever anywhere. But it was a port installed option which used the hole method and adhesive, and since they did many hundreds of these a month they had the proper alignment jig to perfectly drill the holes and install the spoiler. I think the ones done after the fact (dealer or owner), or not using the hole method have a higher defect rate. All you can really do is take it off and reinstall it using the right adhesive. 3M makes many types of adhesive, but use the one designed for auto cladding and trim as this is way stronger than the generic stuff you pick up at Walmart or Home Depot.

hey calvin, just take it off and redo the tape. its just the 3M tape that is wearing out. Sometimes that happens and new tape will do the trick. If the spoiler is in bad condition, you can always order a new spoiler for like $200-$300?

If you are afraid to take off the spoiler yourself ask to meet up with a local CL member and I am sure they will be more than happy to help you out. GL man!

Hey thanks for the tip, I guess I never posted an update.

I took the car back to the dealership I bought it from and even though neither was covered by the CPO warranty, they went ahead and replaced the windshield molding (which was cracking) and the trunk spoiler. Obviously dealers are directed not to take off and reapply adhesive to spoilers but rather to just entirely replace them, otherwise I'm sure they'd have done the former since it was at their expense. Anyway, it's fixed now and looks great.

The problem was just the adhesive at the corners wearing off and the spoiler coming up. Had the dealer not fixed it and I had to repair it myself, I'd have just replaced the adhesive with the 3M stuff you're recommending. I'm sure it wouldn't have been a big deal, but I'm glad the dealer went ahead and took responsibility.

I'm with everyone else. Try to get the dealer to fix it. I really think they should.
