Default Seatbelt alarm lag?

Quick question for the IS pros before I waste the time at the dealership: I just picked up my 08 350 a month ago and have had this incident occur three times so far. I will come to a stop and the passenger exits the car. The passenger "seatbelt on" icon stays lit and as I drive off the alarm will sound constantly for about 30 seconds as if the person is still in the car. It's to the point where it's down right embarrassing esp if I have the windows down. Defect or normal?

I did a search of the forum and only found info on how to disable the sound which I don't want to do.

defect for sure. Might wanna bring it back to the dealer

The alarm should cancel the moment the passenger lifts his butt off the seat. At least thats how it works in my car

Yeah this topic has popped up here several times, as you found in your search. If by "normal" you mean this problem occurs on other cars? Yes. Was it intentional by Lexus? Probably not.

Put the car in park when they get out - seems to fix it for me.

Actually the same exact issue has happened to me a few times. I brushed it off as a manufacturing flaw, but maybe I should take it in to have it looked at?

Right. Like are the rest of you exp a similar issue...guess I'll have to take it to the dealer then. Having to shift to park seems like an annoyance esp if someone is jumping out to run into the store and there is a line of cars behind you...

Oh yes, I had this problem too, but I used the work around and turn the seat belt alarm off so it is no longer gives the audible alarm at me if this happends.
