I am planning on getting the Venture Shield Clear Bra actually, and its one of the reasons i used the tape, so i don't get any new rock chips before getting the clear bra put on. It already has a couple rock chips i need to fill in before doing the clear bra as it is.

ah! your thread brings me memories

i drive a lot between norcal and socal (more than an average person )
but i only tape the car when i have some extra time...
the rest of the time the car just keeps racking up bug kills...

side story...
on one occasion i pulled into a gas station and saw a guy notice my taped-up car and started laughing out loud as he drove out

I guess I'm the only one who thinks that looks pretty bad. I rather have the rock chips.
Nice trip though. Grapevine got a lot of snow and CA is vibrant green right now.

It's not like its permanent or anything. It's just to prevent rock trips on the long drives. I'm sure people think it looks stupid...o well...i love this car too much to let it take all the rock chips and road grime on the front end on such a long drive.

You'd rather have rock chips?

Haha it actually looks like more work than it is, didn't take more than 30 minutes to do it all.

Yeah its a good idea to tape up the front end. I took my old car to Norcal and back once and it came back with a couple big rock chips and a dozen or so little ones all over the front end =/

just remember if CHP catches you with tape flapping around and pieces obviously missing, you could get cited for littering

A disposable alternative to a clear bra that's better looking (albeit not as cheap) than painter's tape would be Road Wrap:

That's pretty neat. According to their FAQ it can be left on for up to 7 days. Great for road trips.
