If all of the TSBs and recalls have been carried out, the 2006 should be fine. However, if they haven't, the car is out of warranty now (4 years) and Lexus won't fix anything that's not a safety recall (eg the "vibrating" rear view mirror).

Steering is probably the most noticable change. My friend has an 06 250 and complains about how the steering feels "too loose". Also the back of the front seats were changed up a bit to allow more leg room in the back...and for me the deal break was the darker rims! Plus the shark fin, better push buttons for gas/trunk and the ultimate luxury...the coin holder. Not to mention its always a bad idea to buy the first model year of any car and it seems like the 06's on this forum seem to have the most problems...

TSIBs are not recalls, they are instructions for the dealer service techs to repair problems that some owners are experiencing. With the exception of certain "customer service" TSIBs like the one to provide low-dust brake pads, they are only performed after the dealer confirms that the car is actually experiencing the problem that the TSIB addresses.

With respect to the specific example sktn77a cited, if the rear view mirror on a 2006 you test drive is not vibrating excessively, there is no reason to be concerned about whether the TSIB was performed.

Has he had SSC 9LC performed? That special service campaign replaces the electric power steering link, which most people report tightens the steering noticeably. That said, lack of steering feel is often cited as a deficiency in all of the model years, including the current one.

i'll take my CPO warranty over the factory warranty any day. 3 yr 100k miles bumper to bumper better than that factory one.

I think on the 06 model you can only turn it off temporarily w/ that button. After you hit 30mph or so the systems will reactivate...from what I’ve heard. My car will keep the VSC & skid control off until I push the button again or restart the engine.

Actually, if you turn off your traction control by simply pushing the button, it will act just like an '06, turning itself back on at 30MPH. To turn it off at all speeds, you'll need to press and hold the button in for more than three seconds, until the second indicator lights.

No, it's a TSIB. Free under 4 yr/50k warranty, like $900 otherwise.
