Antena on the roof and easier to turn off traction control. 08 has a button and the 06 you have to do what has been refered to as the "pedal dance" to turn off the traction control.

Is there a thread anywhere that describes the differences between each year?

Also trunk and gas cap release buttons are illuminated on the '08 but not on the '06.

I found that Edmunds.coms does. See the "What's new for 20<XX>".

go for the 08

things are a lot better than they used to be but I make it a rule to never buy the first iteration of a new model. Not so much for major issues but little things come out with the inevitable feedback that comes from a much larger "test" base that gets incorporated into later year models.

along the same lines, I didn't buy the ipad but will be looking at the ipad2...

well, I have an 06 is350 and when it went into the shop, I got a 2010 is350 loaner car. To me, its just a more personal feel on the inside. Companies always try to revamp something a little so each year dosn't look the same. Performance wise, I didn't notice much of a difference other than it was newer.

Performance wise it's basically the same. I opted for an 08 because it was more updated like more leg room in the back I believe and the dealer breaker was the COIN HOLDER

Lack of a functional traction control button in my '06 is probably the one greatest annoyance. Amazingly, the lack of illuminated trunk and gas cap buttons can still irk me too.
Both these were addressed in newer versions....

I think the '08 has differently shaped engine panel clips too. Also a deal breaker for some.

Like the edmunds links from Sango say, the 08 has the 07 +traction control kill switch plus redesigned seat backs and "recalibrated steering". If you're deciding between buying an 06 and an 08, the 08 might be under factory warranty still.
