Default AWD Non staggered set-up for IS 350

Hi, posted this question in the wheel size thread, but no responses. Thought I would try a thread in the main forum...

New to forum, and just bought 2011 IS 350 but want to lower ride height with F-Sport springs and either get 19" or 18" rims.

If any of you are running non-staggered on AWD can you let know what tire size? Is anyone running wider than 225? Lexus recommends 225/40R18 and told me anything wider would rub in the front. But I know that a lot of AWDs with staggered are running wider in the front.

Was thinking of 255s but I think that is crazy wide now...but would 235 be possible? Or even 245?

Options for both 18s and 19s appreciated. Confused and would like some advice... Thanks!

Also total nub when it comes to this kind of stuff...c

There was a post earlier I saw today one a owner running 235 in the front. If I recall correctly, he said there was 1 cm clearance left still to go.

I also have a 2011 IS 350 AWD. At first I was 100% dead set on going with a 19 inch staggered setup. I love the look, and my previous car was staggered on 19's. However, I plan to keep this car for a long time and although I'm sure it's safe to run, I opted to go with a non staggered setup.

I talked to a few of my friends with AWD vehicles and most of them also went with the safe route to avoid any hassles with dealerships and warranty. I also want to be able to rotate the tires and not have to blow money on tires all the time. Long story short, this is the setup I have in the mail:

Lowered on F sport springs, going with 19 by 8.5 all around with a 45 offset...wheels didnt come in a more aggressive offset. Tires will be Hankook Ventus V12's 225/35/19. I plan to run hubcentric spacers in the rear to push them out a bit. I was going to wait to get the wheels here before deciding on how much I need to space them out, but if anyone can suggest a spacer size off hand that would be much appreciated.

Me thinks the IS 350 will be a popular sale in Canada!

+1 on not wanting to mess with the AWD!

225s huh, any reason why you wouldn't try 235?


Also total nub, what do you mean by hub centers? Will this extend the rear tire out? Is this the same as offsetting or at least the same result?

What rims are you thinking of getting? Iwas thinking of getting line a corse 19" 818s...

I'm sure the 235's would work, esp with a conservative offset like 45 in the front. however, I wanted to keep the rolling diameter as close to stock as possible. With a 225/35/19 its roughly .2 inches taller than the stock 17 inch wheels and 225/45/17 tires. The 235s would make the wheels pretty tall even with a lower ratio like 30.

The hubcentric spacers are designed to be a spacer and hubcentric ring all in one, safer as most would say. And this then will push the wheel out giving the illusion of a staggered setup. Or you could just got with offsets that will give you that desired look...I couldn't because the wheels I bought do not have multiple offset in the size I needed.

I really like the Linea Corse 818's but Zoeb didn't have any left in a gunmetal finish. I had my heart set on getting them as well, again in a staggered setup. My last car had LC Dynas in the black chrome finish and I loved those wheels. This time however, I went with TSW Nurburgring's in a gunmetal finish. I don't know if it makes that much of a difference but they are labelled as rotary forged vs the typical cast aluminum 1 piece wheels. As well, I didn't want to pay customs, shipping, duties etc that's why I went with the Nurburgrings as they are being shipped out of Vancouver.

THose TSW Nurburgs look pretty seet also! I will have to check with Zoeb to see if they got any smoked chrome in. I think that that would look sic with the granite mica.

I did the calc on the radius... closest comparison to the 225/45R17s are actually 245/30R19s. Tire size calc says only off by .1"... now I wonder if that would rub? That would be a pretty stiff ride I imagine though?

To me, 255 is the first option if possible...235 is not bad though

Where are you going to source the hub spacers from?

I'm putting wheels on my IS350 AWD this weekend and have the same thoughts as you- get the wheels on first...and see how they look before purchasing spacers.

FYI i'll be running a staggered setup- 225/40/19 and 255/35/19 in the rears.

I don't know how hard you drive your cars, but 235/275 + AWD...HELLO understeer.

255, all around! Yikes, I want to eliminate the possibility of rub! I am thinking 255 there would be no chance.

I was recommended to not try the 245 either.... 235, won't look too bad,

Although the radius is .2" over the stock radius. no idea how much of an issue this will cause the car. should be none...

I have a 350 awd too
I don't know if our cars are similar to isf
here is a chart wheels and tires spec that won't rub on isf

According to that chart, if you are doing
8.5 +35/+52 235/245/255 in the front
8.5 +33/+65 235/245/255 in the rear, you shouldn't have any problem at all

After finished reading that chart, I would say I probably go to the widest which is 255 all around, hope that helps.
