Default The IS ate my parking pass :(

So I was driving the IS, and had a parking pass sitting right on top of where the ash tray is (ashtray was closed). Then it just slipped into the little crack towards the front of the car, and into the dash... (the crack that the ashtray slides into when you open it).

It's now completely in there and I have no way of getting it. I had to park in the visitor's section to avoid being ticketed. Some may say that it wasn't the greatest idea to leave the pass sitting there, but I decided to blame this on bad engineering since they should know people will have papers, cards and other things like that on the console area of the car and there shouldn't be bottomless pits that the items can fall into.

Anyone had anything fall in there? Any DIY guides on removing that area around there? By the way the pass was one that you hang from the rear view mirror, so smaller than a credit card, it was flimsy plastic.

Thanks

that should be easy. Just remove the shift ****. Remove the two silver side trims beside the shift console. Lift up the shift console. Remove the 2 screws that hold down the ashtray. And there you have it.

Not sure what year IS you have or what size your parking pass is, but I keep mine in the parking pass holder on the visor. Works perfectly.
Again, not sure what year they added it... I'm driving a 2011.

That's the winner right there. I can't even count the times I've taken apart my center console (super easy now). If not for new parts, it's to fish out coins I drop in there lol
