What happens in the car/key gob battery dies?... are you S.O.L. or is there something else?

I can't find a keyhole anywhere but the trunk.... just wondering if/when the day comes.

well it doesnt completely die all the way , but you will know when you get in your vehicle and you cant start your car because key remote is dead, BUt theres still hope just hold your KEYFOB up to the start button and you will hear the DING, so you can start it but you will also hear the DINGS that let you know you need a new battery. Also when it dies you cant automagically lock your doors you have to manually lock them from the inside, but then the next issue is once you get back to your key you cant just touch the door handle to unlock becuase key FOB is dead, you have to then pop off the piece of the door handle that has your actual keyhole. Using your keyfob Key to unlock your doors, ITs a pain much manageable till you get a new battery

There is a key slot behind a pop-off cover on the door handle. And the key can be used to start the car even with a completely dead (or removed) battery if you hold it against the start button. It would probably be a good idea to read the relevant section of your owners manual to familiarize yourself in case you get caught in this situation.

Basically what axis77 said.

If the battery dies and you need to use the physical key, you pop off the plastic on the handle and there is a lock cylinder under it. To start the car you hold the Lexus side of the key up to the start button until it turns green.

The battery can be completely dead.

Should probably read the owner's manual at some point.

You'll have a warning(s) anyways. When you turn your car off you will hear a ding and the info screen in the cluster will say key battery low. You have some time before it dies. I just replaced my battery today because I had the message. Very easy and cheap. As mentioned above you need a CR1632 battery which is a few bucks and can be found many places (its a watch battery)

No problem. Also if you're interested, check with your local Lexus dealer about getting a manual, they shouldn't even cost that much. If you want one anyways.

FYI for those who want a new manual:

You can order a new manual online too, and Lexus will mail it to you for FREE.

After you sign in on the Lexus drivers website, click the "Vehicle Resources" Tab on the left. then click "order owners manual" input your information and they will send you one

It says approx 2 weeks, i got mine in under a week i believe
